A wildfire has spread in most of the forests of Damauli due to the long drought. According to Division Forest Office, Tanahun, the wildfire has spread in 12,00-hectare community forests in the district. Many wild animals have lost their lives and medicinal herbs have also been destroyed in the bush-fire. Last year too, a huge area of forests was destroyed due to the wildfire. A disaster response team was formed to control the wildfire. Assistant Forest Officer Kasiraj Pandit said that equipment used for dousing wildfire were distributed to community forest consumer groups.
